Rotarians help suffered from the burns!
On June 14 at 14.00 there was a charity action in Lviv city clinical hospital No 8. Rotary Club “Lviv-Ratusha” passed on a modern medical equipment for $40000 USA to treat the patients suffered from the burns. Rotary-Club “Lviv-Ratusha” continues working in the sphere of health protection. Due to the active cooperation of Rotarians from “Lviv-Ratusha” with foreign colleagues during the last years the club has bought and installed the incubator for newborns in delivery department of Radekhiv central regional hospital and a reanimation table for newborns in Horodok. The next club project was buying and passing on the equipment for tuberculosis diagnostics and treatment to phthisio-lung medical-diagnostic centre. In particular, the Rotarians have bought and passed on the ultrasound portable scanner with cardiological tranducer MyLabBridge the price of which is nearly 28,000 Euro as well as inhalators, bactericidal lamps, suckers and functional beds for the price of 40,000 Euro.
One more Rotarian project connected with the Burn Centre of Lviv city clinical hospital No 8 has been over which supposed buying and passing on a modern equipment for operating and intensive therapy of patients suffered from the burns. In particular, Rotarians supplied a surgical microscope for conducting microsurgery operations on skin transplanting, syringe pumps for dosed even therapy, medical monitors to control the state of patients and bactericidal lamps for nearly $40,000 US.
Every year almost 2500 people of Lviv region get burns of different degree of difficulty, nearly 1400 of them are treated in the Burn centre of Lviv city clinical hospital No 8 which has departments for adults and children. Out of the general number of patients 600 of them are children, 70% of them are treated in the children burn department. Thanks to the Rotarians 11 doctors of the burn department will be able to give more qualified and effective help to the patients, lessen the disability level and relieve the patients’ sufferings saving the life of those who have got hard burns and need the surgical interference with further intensive therapy. The means for buying the equipment was given by the Rotarians of “Lviv-Ratusha” club, as well as their colleagues from the USA –RC Milford, RC Hudson, RC Framingham, RC Southboro, RC Franklin. Lviv Rotarians have partnership relationship with Rotary District No 9910which has also contributed to the project. The Initiative of Lviv Club was supported by Rotary Foundation which doubled the gathered sum. The Ukrainian doctors from the burn department and their colleagues from Massachusetts General Hospital in the USA consulted on the choice of the equipment.
